Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado refuses to divulge the real reason as to why she and TV host-actor Luis Manzano broke up last year. This is out of respect for herself, Luis and his family.
Luis is the son of Batangas Governor and Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos-Recto.
She wants to keep something for herself private, especially since she has a son already. Jennylyn said she has always been an open book, even about her relationship.
This time, she wanted to keep it private.
She doesn't regret getting into a relationship with Luis. They had good memories in the three years they have been together.
Every time she enters into a relationship, she understands that there are two people there and they are both responsible for whatever may happen--whether good or bad.
"Kasi kayong dalawa ang nagsasama, give and take. Pero kung may sinisisi man ako, parang sinisisi ko na rin yung sarili ko, di ba?"
Last year was the first Christmas Jennylyn spent as a single woman. She wasn't used to it since she has always been with her partners in past holidays.
But the actress said she still enjoyed the time spent with her son and her family.
This time though, Jennylyn wants to be single for while. She needed to take care of herself and love herself, she added.
When she's in a relationship, she always gives her all. That's why she needed this break for herself.
"Kailangan kong mahalin at unahin ang sarili ko bago ang ibang tao."
Meanwhile, the actress still hopes to get married someday. In all the relationships she had in the past, Jennylyn said no one ever offered for her hand.
She wants to have a beach wedding since she's fond of being in water.
Asked if she still loves Luis, Jennylyn asked if there is an expiration to love.
"But there is a time na napapagod ka. There is a time na may kailangan ka rin for yourself. There is a time na when you love, you also have to love yourself."
