ABS-CBN Explains Korina Sanchez's Resignation

After veteran journalist Korina Sanchez resigned from her DZMM morning program, "Rated Korina," there was a lot of rumors about the reason for her leaving the top-rated show.

Some said she was fired from the program because of her verbal altercation with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper over the latter's coverage of Typhoon Yolanda. Korina defended her husband, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas, after the CNN anchor criticized the handling of the relief operations.

But according to Bong Osorio, the network's spokesman, Korina resigned from the show to concentrate on her postgraduate studies at the Ateneo de Manila University. She will, however, continue her anchor duties on "TV Patrol" and "Rated K."

Korina apparently told the network about her plans in the middle of 2013.

"Rated Korina" will be replaced by "Sakto," which will be anchored by Marc Logan and Amy Perez. It will air from 10 a.m. on DZMM.
