BB Gandanghari rejects comeback film as Rustom

MANILA - The upcoming action film "Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina, at mga Anak" features several actors from the Padilla clan of celebrities, with one notable exception.
BB Gandanghari and Robin
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, lead star Robin Padilla explained why his younger sibling BB Gandanghari, formerly Rustom, won't be starring alongside other members of their family in the film inspired by the infamous Kuratong Baleleng gang.

"Pinadala namin sa kanya [Gandanghari] 'yung pasabi. Gusto ko nga siya gumanap na isa sa mga holdaper nung armored van pero hindi pa siya handa maging si Rustom ulit," said Robin.

The two, alongside Rommel and Royette Padilla, starred in the 1994 action movie "Mistah."

"Naiintindihan ko naman, wala naman problema sa akin 'yun. Nagkasundo kaming dalawa na solo movie niya ang gusto niya," added Robin.

In a previous interview, Robin admitted that he has had to take "baby steps" in accepting his brother as an openly gay man who identifies as a woman. The older Padilla also said he is not keen on the idea of Gandanghari being in a relationship with a man.

"Hanggang doon na muna kasi baka kung kasunod niyan ay may boyfriend, boyfriend, diyan tayo masisira," he said.

Despite this, Robin revealed that he will be working with Gandanghari on another film project which will advocate gay rights.

"Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina, at mga Anak" will feature several Padilla actors, including teen heartthrob Daniel. It will also star Robin's wife, actress-host Mariel Rodriguez,

The film is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on January 29.
