Rey PJ Abellana Is Against Daughter's Carla's Rumored Marriage

There have been rumors lately that Kapuso stars Carla Abellana and Geoff Eigenmann are already planning to tie the knot. Carla's father, former actor Rey PJ Abellana, is against these rumors since his daughter is just starting in her career.

He said it's better if Carla will just focus on her career first since she has a contract with GMA-7 and Regal Films. Rey maintained he is not against Geoff seeing as the couple was even with him last Christmas.

It's just better for everyone if they will not hurry on their plans to get married. He said the two didn't mention anything to him regarding their plans to settle down.

Since Carla is just new in the business and her career is just blooming, her father said another activity such as marriage should not distract her from it.

If ever his daughter asked his opinion or advice, Rey said he will be very vocal about discouraging Carla from settling down.

"A, for me, marriage is just … nandiyan lang 'yan. Hindi naman minamadali 'yan. Ang point is, para sa akin, yung blessings na dumarating sa 'yo, hindi 'yan dumarating palagi at forever."

Rey wants Carla to give enough focus on the blessings and opportunities coming her way. He even joked that it is better if Carla will not get married.

Rey married young, and his blooming career went to a suddent halt in the 80s.

Carla should prioritize her career first above anything else, Rey added, stating that it will take quite a time before he will allow his daughter to tie the knot.

"Alam mo, I'm not particularly against Geoff. I'm just concerned about my daughter's happiness and security. Yun lang."

There were some issues in the past that Rey is not approved of Geoff as Carla's boyfriend because of the former's family background. Geoff is the son of Gina Alajar and Michael de Mesa, whose marriage didn't last long.

Rey denied these issues and said he is actually friends with both Gina and Michael. For him, he is only looking out for Carla's well-being. Some said Carla is one of the best in the new generation of actresses, especially in her role in "My Husband's Lover" last year.

That is what the former actor is trying to point out--why enter into a marriage now and allow it to affect a blooming career?

"I'm just worried about my daughter's future. Siyempre yung happiness niya, yung security and happiness niya, you know, e, para rin naman sa kanya 'yan."

When is the right time for Carla to settle down? Rey said once Carla is not busy with work anymore, then she can think about settling down.

That is, even if Geoff wanted to get married already. The actor said although all of us want some things, we cannot necessarily get all of them, seemingly hinting of Geoff's possible proposal to Carla.
